Overview

If you’re looking for the perfect balance between adventure, wildlife, and comfort, our 5 Days Serengeti & Ngorongoro Safari is one of the finest safari experiences Tanzania has to offer. This carefully designed itinerary takes you into the heart of two of Africa’s most famous wildlife destinations, allowing you to experience incredible landscapes, abundant wildlife, and unforgettable game drives without feeling rushed.

The Serengeti is one of the world’s most celebrated national parks. Its endless golden plains, dramatic sunsets, and incredible concentration of wildlife have made it a dream destination for travelers from around the globe. Every game drive offers something different, whether it’s a pride of lions resting beneath an acacia tree, a cheetah scanning the plains for prey, or thousands of wildebeest moving across the savannah during the Great Migration.

Your adventure continues to the breathtaking Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where you’ll descend into the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater. Often described as Africa’s Garden of Eden, the crater is home to one of the highest concentrations of wildlife anywhere on the continent and offers one of the best opportunities to spot the legendary Big Five in a single day.

At Wakati Safari Adventure, we believe that every safari should feel personal. That’s why our itineraries are thoughtfully planned, our guides are passionate about wildlife, and every journey is tailored to provide unforgettable memories. Whether you’re celebrating a honeymoon, traveling with family, or fulfilling a lifelong dream, this safari delivers an authentic Tanzanian experience that you’ll remember forever.

Day 1: Arusha to Central Serengeti National Park

Your safari begins early in the morning when your guide from Wakati Safari Adventure collects you from your hotel in Arusha or Kilimanjaro International Airport.

After a short briefing, you’ll begin your journey towards Serengeti National Park, passing through the beautiful Ngorongoro Highlands along the way.

The drive itself is part of the adventure. You’ll pass Maasai villages, rolling hills, and breathtaking viewpoints overlooking the Great Rift Valley before entering the endless plains that make the Serengeti so famous.

As soon as you enter the park, your first game drive begins.

The Serengeti is home to one of Africa’s richest concentrations of wildlife. Even before reaching your lodge, you may encounter elephants crossing the road, giraffes feeding on acacia trees, zebras grazing peacefully, or lions resting beneath the afternoon sun.

After enjoying your first exciting game drive, you’ll continue to your safari lodge or tented camp where dinner and overnight await.

Today is dedicated entirely to exploring one of the world’s greatest wildlife destinations.

After breakfast, you’ll head into the vast plains of Serengeti National Park for a full day of game viewing.

The beauty of spending a full day here is that there’s no need to rush. Your guide has plenty of time to search for wildlife and explore different parts of the park depending on recent animal movements.

Possible wildlife sightings include:

  • Leopards
  • Cheetahs
  • Elephants

  • Giraffes
  • Hyenas

Your guide will stop for a picnic lunch in a scenic location before continuing the afternoon game drive.

As the sun begins to set, the Serengeti transforms into one of Africa’s most beautiful landscapes, offering unforgettable golden light for photography.

Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 3: Morning Serengeti Game Drive – Ngorongoro Conservation Area

After breakfast, you’ll enjoy another morning game drive in Serengeti National Park.

Morning is one of the best times to observe predators, as lions, leopards, and cheetahs are often more active before the heat of the day.

Depending on recent wildlife sightings, your guide will explore different sections of the park to maximize your chances of seeing remarkable animal encounters.

Later, you’ll leave Serengeti and travel towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Along the way, you’ll enjoy spectacular views over the crater highlands before arriving at your lodge situated near the crater rim.

Dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater Safari

Today you’ll descend approximately 600 meters into one of the world’s most remarkable natural wonders.

The Ngorongoro Crater is often described as a natural wildlife sanctuary because animals remain inside the crater throughout the year.

Within its relatively small area, you’ll find an astonishing variety of wildlife living together.

Common sightings include:

  • Black Rhino
  • Lion
  • Elephant
  • Buffalo
  • Zebra
  • Wildebeest
  • Hippo
  • Hyena
  • Jackal
  • Warthog
  • Thomson’s Gazelle
  • Grant’s Gazelle

The crater’s permanent water sources and rich grasslands create ideal conditions for wildlife viewing throughout the year.

A picnic lunch is served beside the famous hippo pool before continuing your afternoon safari.

Few places in Africa offer such reliable wildlife viewing in a single day.

After an unforgettable experience, you’ll return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Return to Arusha

After breakfast, you’ll begin your journey back to Arusha.

Although your safari is coming to an end, the drive offers one final opportunity to enjoy Tanzania’s beautiful landscapes and traditional Maasai villages.

If you wish, this safari can also be extended with:

  • Zanzibar Beach Holiday
